Sleepy Lion learns through everyday experiences with his family and friends. Whether he is facing a new challenge, helping a friend, working through big feelings, or trying something for the first time, Sleepy discovers that growing up means learning, listening, and sometimes asking for help. His adventures help children explore the everyday lessons that come with growing up.

Jazzy Fox
Jazzy Fox is smart, confident, stylish, and brave — and one of Sleepy Lion’s closest friends.
Jazzy cares about doing what is right, even when standing apart from the crowd isn’t easy. Through her friendship with Daisy, Sleepy Lion, and the rest of the group, Jazzy learns that confidence also means listening, showing kindness, and making room for others to find their own voice. Her stories show how friendship can help us appreciate and learn from our differences.

Johnathan
Johnathan Lion is Sleepy Lion’s playful, energetic younger brother who is always ready for a little mischief.
Johnathan’s curiosity and fun-loving personality bring plenty of humor to the Lion family, but his adventures also give him opportunities to learn about listening, responsibility, patience, and getting along with others. Through his relationship with Sleepy and his family, Johnathan shows children that growing up includes making mistakes, learning from them, and becoming more thoughtful along the way.

Gator Bear
Gator Bear is Sleepy Lion’s best friend, and there’s a special story behind his unusual name.
Gator Bear is a cute bear whose unusual name has a meaningful family story behind it. Sometimes other children tease him because of his name, but Sleepy Lion eventually learns the surprising story behind it. Gator’s story helps show that there is often much more to a person than what we see on the surface.

Jason
Jason is a complex character who sometimes has a hard time being kind when his own feelings are hurt.
Jason stutters and has experienced being teased because of the way he speaks. At times, that hurt causes him to lash out or treat others unkindly. Through his experiences with Sleepy Lion and his friends, Jason begins to learn that hurting someone else doesn’t make his own hurt disappear.

Daisy
Daisy is a fun-loving young fox with a sweet, playful personality.
She can be shy at times and admires Jazzy’s confidence and strength, but their friendship works both ways. Jazzy encourages Daisy to be more confident and find her voice, while Daisy helps Jazzy lighten up, have fun, and not take everything quite so seriously.
Their friendship shows children that good friends do not have to be exactly alike — our differences can help us learn and grow.
